Exterior building at 2200 Graham Avenue in Windber

Chapter 1

The Beginning

In 1924, Celestine and Mary A. Rillo built their home at 2200 Graham Avenue after immigrating from the northern-central region of Italy. They lived upstairs and operated a general store and meat market below. In 1937, they opened a restaurant at the same address, then known as Rillo's Fairway Cafe, serving authentic Italian food from old-world family recipes.

The Family

In 1965, the restaurant passed to Mildred (Millie) and Anthony Rizzo. After Anthony's passing in 1983, Millie and her children Dominick, Marie, and David, with David's wife Norma, continued operating the restaurant. After David's passing in June 2001, Marie's son Dominick returned home to support day-to-day operations.
